Case 1. Burning Torches like Candles

Description under the picture (translated from German):
In the year 1570 on the 12th of January 4 hours into the night this extraordinary sign appeared in the sky between the North and the East. At first a very black cloud appeared like a large mountain and in this cloud many stars showed up, and above this black cloud there was a very large and long light like burning sulphur and in the form of a ship, and on this burning torches like candles and amongst them stood two large light pillars, one in the east and one in the north and hence the whole town was illuminated as if it was all burning, and it looked as if blood was running down from the clouds onto the two pillars.
What God meant to say by this awesome sign is hidden to human eyes, but this each Christian may indeed believe, namely that God doesn’t give such terrifying signs in vain, as they are seen in this dangerous time here and there.
Sillok record from June. 9th, 1519. Gyeongju (14th year of King Jungjong)

On this night there was an extraordinary heavenly phenomenon in Gyeongju Prefecture, Gyeongsang Province. At dusk, moonlight shone very brightly. From the west arose clouds, amongst which appeared lights. They looked somewhat like lightning but were not. Rather, they were like fires. Some filled the sky like arrows flying about wildly. Some broke through the sky like meteors. Some soared like red serpents. Some flew away in all directions like sparks of fire. Some bent like a drawn bow. Some diverged like a forked hairpin. Their shapes and forms varied innumerably. No sooner did they appear, then they disappeared. They emerged one after another in rapid succession and without interruption. Altogether, it was like firing cannon. Lights flared up like candles illuminating a dark room. The phenomenon started from the west and then spread toward the northeast, and it is said to have dissipated only in the third watch (11 pm–1 am). The provincial governor reported this to the King based on a report from Magistrate of Gyeongju Prefecture Kim Anro.

Case 2. Crashing Meteor

Sillok record from Jan. 27th, 1605. (38th year of King Seonjo)

Governor of Hamgyeong Province Seo Seong sent a report to the King as follows:
In the second watch (9–11 pm) of the second day of the first month, a shooting star appeared. Like an arrow with a fiery head, it was over ten feet long and grew to the size of a ridgepole [when viewed from the vantage point]. It arose from the west and headed northeast, falling in Jurchen territory. The whole area, above and below, was red all over. It became bright far and near, followed by thunderous sounds, which subsided in a moment, it is said.
Case 3. Blood Colored Rain, Heavy Hailing
Below picture is from Sep. 5th, 1629, The Ens

Sillok record from Sep. 23th, 1609. (39th year of King Seonjo)

Magistrate of Huicheon County Ahn Daegi sent a report: “On the nineteenth day of the eighth month, in the mi hour (1:30–2:30 pm), in the northwest part of the county, dark clouds suddenly covered an area encompassing a town and nearby fields stretching for about ten ri to its east. With deafening thunders, a shower of ice and hail bombarded the area for over four hours before stopping. The size of the formidable hail ranged from the egg of a goose to that of a duck and down to that of a chicken. They poured down simultaneously, destroying crops. Even birds and beasts, when hit, perished in great numbers. Hopes of harvest evaporated in a moment.”

Case 4. Many Suns

Sillok record from Apr. 2nd, 1520. (15th year of King Jungjong)

“Was there clearly the sight of the two suns? On the previous day, a solar earring was visible on either side of the sun, glowing just like the sun. Could it be that the sight of this was mistaken as the two suns? If there were indeed the two suns, that is an extremely strange occurrence. Have the governor report again on this matter with full details.”

“The message of the Royal Secretariat is indeed proper. However, this is no ordinary anomaly. The ancient said, “There can be no two suns in heaven.” Now, if this incidence of the two suns appearing at once is to be known among men and recorded in history, the future generations will be mystified.”
